But primarily, standards are developed by market players, which means you! It is the result of a dynamic where discussion is of prime importance. Every participant, including minorities, has a voice, is heard, cooperates and is involved in the decision-making process. This requires listening to all points of view. Decision by consensus is possible because certain participants agree not to oppose the consensus proposal. Initiated by market players, the voluntary standard is the result of co-production between professionals and players from all sectors who have perceived the benefit for their market and choose to commit to its development. Application of published standards is voluntary.
