ENERGY STORAGE AND BATTERIES
The battery industry lies at the heart of large-scale deployment of electric vehicles across land, waterways, sea and even air. It’s also central to the challenges of integrating means of backup power for intermittent renewable energies (wind, solar, etc.). Control of this supply chain has become a geopolitical issue that French and European public authorities have addressed. The establishment of a fully developed European battery cell manufacturing industry is the objective.
Extraction and refining of raw materials, cell manufacture, cell assembly, second-life batteries, recycling… standardization needs exist across the board. French players should demonstrate a significant presence in the ongoing work at international level.
