Industry of The Future

French industry faces a major challenge: preparing companies for simultaneous transitions – energy, ecological, digital, organizational and societal.

The industry of the future is connected, optimized and adaptive. The industrial model is undergoing profound transformation due to digitization. Having prepared a report on the role of voluntary standardization in the development of industry of the future, the French standardization system is entering an implementation phase, adopting an agile and collaborative cross-cutting approach. Stakeholders in digital transformation for the industry of the future will identify and defend French interests in international standardization work on the interoperability and sustainability of digital solutions deployed in industry, for example in cybersecurity, robotics, blockchain technology, the Internet of Things and sensors.

Standardization is also likely to provide solutions to major ecological and technological challenges such as energy efficiency and the environmental footprint of companies, integration of manufacturing processes (particularly additive manufacturing), robotics, cobotics, augmented reality and maintenance operations.

Finally, the industry of the future will have to find the right human/machine balance by revisiting the role of humans in factories while also ensuring coherence with new technologies and aiming for global (economic, social and environmental) performance.

OBJECTIVES

INFLUENCE

  • Strengthen French presence and contributions in the ISO and IEC bodies addressing industry, in particular as regards the reference architecture model.
  • Acquire a shared vision of French interests in order to identify:
    • standardization structures and normative projects deemed important
    • coordination actions to be put in place between contracting bodies and user industries
    • alliances to be formed with other national delegations
  • Invite standardization players to take into account in their work any new occupational health risks caused by changes to processes, products and the environment.

MONITOR

  • Identify new potential standardization needs in the field of occupational health and safety
  • Find out more about standardization for industry of the future
