Nanotechnologies

Nanotechnologies are deployable in an increasing number of applications. However, social acceptability of these technologies cannot be taken for granted.

Acceptability will only increase if the environmental and health risks related to their handling and use are properly taken into account and controlled.

There are two key objectives in terms of standardization: support the development of nanotechnologies while guarding against their potential negative effects and help capitalize on research findings to facilitate their transfer to industrial environments. Work is in progress under the aegis of AFNOR and CEN.
